The only purpose of this drawing was to check how much I've improved my drawing skills since I joined deviantArt site. That's also why I tried to not put too much effort in making it as I usually do – I wanted to find out how good it will come out in a relative short time. The initial sketch took me less than half an hour, but finishing work took me a few hours because I couldn't resist myself to do some significant corrections and add some details in contrary to what I was planning to do.
Even if you'll say that this drawing looks great there is still some work that could be done to improve it. So imagine how it would looks like if would spend more time on it.
During drawing it I realized how much more I need to learn about colors. I already know that I should shade objects with color counterpart at the opposite position of the color wheel. But when I need to choose a halftones there are two paths to that color, so I have 50% chance to fail. So I started to study photos with pony plushies and sculptures, which I also recommend to do for all beginner artists. Thank you all for sharing photos of your pony handmade toys.
